Example calculation

• Sale price: $50.00 (with free shipping)
• eBay fee (13%): -$6.50
• Shipping cost: -$5.00
• Packaging: -$0.80
• Purchase price: -$20.00
• = Profit: $17.70 (35.4% margin)

Rules of thumb

• Your selling price should be at least 2.5x your purchase price
• Under $10 selling price, it's hard to be profitable
• Always reserve 5-10% for returns
