Your seller rating drops, you lose benefits, and buyers can escalate the case.
The direct consequences
- eBay marks the order as "late shipment"
- Your Late Shipment Rate increases — that's a defect
- Too many defects means you lose Top Rated status
- Your listings rank lower in search
- The buyer can escalate ("Item not received")
How many late shipments are okay?
eBay tolerates a Late Shipment Rate under 5%. For 100 orders, that means maximum 5 can be late. Above that, restrictions apply.
What to do if it already happened
- Ship immediately and upload tracking
- Proactively message the buyer with an apology
- Going forward: use shipping deadline monitoring
ShopManage warns you via Telegram before a deadline expires — so it never comes to that. Try it now.
