How to find the cheapest shipping for your eBay parcel
Shipping is one of the biggest cost factors for eBay sellers — and the differences between carriers are significant. DHL, Hermes, DPD and GLS calculate their prices by different criteria, which makes direct comparison difficult.
How do parcel services calculate their prices?
DHL is based solely on the weight of the parcel. A parcel under 2 kg costs the same regardless of its size — as long as it fits the small-parcel category. This makes DHL particularly cheap for small, heavy items.
Hermes, DPD and GLS on the other hand classify by parcel dimensions: the sum of the longest and shortest side in centimetres. Large, light parcels become more expensive here — but small, compact parcels can be cheaper than with DHL.
